How it works
1. Connect Supabase
Sign in to Supabase from your ShipNative project, or let ShipNative create a fresh Supabase project in your organization with one click.
2. Describe your data
Say what the app stores in plain English, for example "each user has a list of workouts with a date and duration". The plan lists the tables before anything is built.
3. The AI writes the backend
ShipNative runs the database changes on your real Supabase project: tables, row level security so each user only sees their own rows, and email and password sign-in when the app needs accounts.
4. Screens read and write real data
Every screen loads and saves through one Supabase client file, so a later change or a key rotation touches one place.
What to know first
- You need a Supabase account. The database lives in your Supabase project, not on ShipNative.
- Database changes only add things: new tables, new columns, new rules. ShipNative never drops a table or a column.
- Data synced to Supabase needs an internet connection. Apps with a backend do not keep an offline copy.
- Building, downloading code and connecting a database need a paid plan. Planning and designing are free.
Frequently asked questions
Which AI app builders connect to Supabase for the backend of a mobile app?
ShipNative does. It connects the Expo (React Native) app it builds to your Supabase project, creates the tables and security rules, and adds email sign-in, without you writing SQL or code.
Does ShipNative create the Supabase project for me?
It can. After you connect your Supabase account, ShipNative can create a new project in your organization, or use one you already have.
Can each user only see their own data?
Yes. Tables that belong to a user get a user_id column and row level security rules, so a signed-in user can only read and change their own rows.
Can I keep using the database after I download the code?
Yes. The project is yours in Supabase, and the downloaded app reads the Supabase URL and public key from environment variables.
